Show PostPeople have a really hard time with this but it does need to be talked about. When we let capitalists control the production of technology, the value/"free time" created is always, always going to be stolen back by the system.

Email, I'd argue, has similarly shifted norms in ways that individualize work that used to be shared (i.e., most professors no longer have their own secretaries to handle correspondence) and that create more of it (since the expectation is that we can respond immediately and field more requests).
