I don't mind and will even occasionally engage in gallows humor in the face of The Horrors, but there is a difference between a bitter joke & unseriousness. And I really do feel that a lot of folks do not understand the gravity of the situation, in ways that are made clear by this sort of language.

I could not care less if someone wants to be cringe, but the cutesiness really bothers me. It's a hokey relic of an era where the bottom hadn't fallen out yet. And folks need to understand this moment in history.

I do think we should actually be publicly demanding that our local officials pledge to support eviction freezes and mortgage pauses if and when Musk crashes banks. People need to know what's at stake, and electeds need to have that legislation on hand ready to deploy.
