I've been trying to verbalize something like this. Men are performing for other men and they (in groups) don't care what women think. It's about being accepted. Going against the norm is a challenge to them. Being different exposes them. A lot changed for me when I figured that out.

beyond not understanding that you retain a benefit — growing equity — that justifies continued taxation, what is happening is that these people don’t understand that their mortgage payment included a property tax payment that went into escrow. that, and simple selfishness, is what’s happening here.
