Yeah I think "thread cancellation", in the general sense, is doable through cooperation. But even if you have a runtime, writing code that is safe to arbitrarily cancellation is just... an insanely difficult programming model to work under.

Oh. The PHP thing is trying to do thread cancellation on OOM through longjmp. You never do thread cancellation, certainly not through longjmp, and especially not on OOM
