That sounds like a great start! 1 If all of them are built, it's still not going to be enough. We need a building plan equivalent to the one implemented post WWII 2 Will they be fit for purpose i.e. have exterior blinds on flats so they're not too hot. Not built on flood plains - just little things

Sounds like a lot. Let's do some maths. Over 50 'cities' in the uk. 70k/10y = 7,000/y - spread across those 50 cities, that's less than 150 houses in each.

In the 1950's Harold Macmillan who was Housing Minister built 300.000 houses in one year. We also need a complete inventory of housing in the UK to see how many houses are unoccupied with the option of taking them into public ownership.

7,000 a year, is that all? Scotland built over 4,000 itself last year, going by per head of population England should be building over 40,000 a year.
