Whether or not ppl cutting off their parents is an actual phenomenon (is it, really?) or just clicky outrage bait, anti-estrangement is a paternalistic, socially regressive position — it’s so similar to being anti-divorce that the two are virtually indistinguishable.

I am so sorry you went through this abuse! Women need to support other women and not count too much on men for support & protection. I hope your life is gradually improving and your trauma is not overriding your ability to enjoy good things in your life and your trust (to an unreasonable degree.)
