Similarly high-caste people prefer Latin/Hebrew/Slavonic/Sanskrit prayers to the vulgate because it all sounds kind of dumb when you say it in normal speech. The shift of Catholicism from low to high status in the US is pretty momentous though.

Mexican Americans are most likely to be Catholic, but with people from places like El Salvador and Venezuela it's a tossup and can often break down along class and ethnic lines.
