That last part you wrote…about them not even bothering to ask…that feels like such a foundational flaw/malignancy of modern elite journalism. They don’t just fail to ask. They seem almost philosophically opposed to it. From light hearted topics like LEGO to stuff like issues trans people face.

It seems to me that a solution to encouraging AI 'alignment' would be to hold AI companies and their executives legally liable - criminally, if relevant - for what their AI agents do.
