Een lezer wees me op een voorloper van de vrijheidsbijdrage: de ‘Verdedigingsbelasting’ uit 1916. 'Ter gedeeltelijke bestrijding van de kosten van den oorlogstoestand.' En nu komt het: dit was een progressieve vermogensbelasting (!). Dus hoe meer vermogen, hoe hoger de aanslag.
