baseball's hall of fame voting system is actually very good; every ballot (the good one and the crazy ones) results in people talking about and thinking about players, and the discussion allows time for players' careers to be re-contextualized with a reasonably long view of history.

Yeah, I'm not too familiar with his case, but to me, it seems like he is equal or better as a player than Rollins. He simply played way fewer games, so I guess him not getting votes isn't the issue. Utley, Felix, Rollins and Abreu should get big boosts in those open ballots like '20, '21 and '23.

If that were the case, then Tulowitzki should at least get some votes. I think there are even fewer modern second baseman in the HOF tho. Cant explain it so far, but I guess Utley will get a boost in upcoming elections.

Agreed, voted for the top 8 guys + Felix and Rollins. I think the standard for good ballots should be something like 6 or 8 votes on the top 8 (minus A-Rod and Manny if PEDs are an issue) and using the other votes to get guys over 5%. A single 'shoutout vote' should be allowed too imo.

Yeah, not having Beltran, A-Rod, Manny or Pettite is possible, but having Rollins on a 5 vote ballot is odd.
