My game is far from being done, but I've been thinking that publishing it on most homebrew/retro platforms I know, would put me in a position where my game could be displayed right next to one of those awful and soulless genai game covers I've seen very often in the homebrew spaces, and I hate that.

Game Boy homebrew scene is particularly awful in that matter. Lots of low effort "demakes" with Al sIop covers released in physical format that sell like hot cakes because people just want another carton box to put on their shelves. The positive side it's that it makes it easy to stand out.
