During its event, it seems almost entirely unresponsive. It holds its arms out for 'hugs', and the sinners can either pull out the nails or bandage it. No matter the outcome, the Hurting Teddy Bear hardly reacts, and the sinners even wonder if "It is unable to feel pain"

Hurting Teddy Bear as an abnormality has a lot of things we can gather from it, but mainly, we know that the Hurting Teddy Bear was likely abused by its previous owner (or owners?) and has thus reached a state of acceptance, or more accurately, 'defeat'.
