Sports are segregated by sex largely as a proxy for various physical traits. It's an imperfect proxy, but much simpler to measure than those traits. There are reasonable arguments to stop using sex as the determining factor, but given that we do use it we should use it for cis and for trans people.

Hi there! We frequently publish survey data well after the surveys are conducted, both because it takes time to collect/analyze data and because data can be more relevant when an issue is in the news (as this one has been). There are lots examples of this on our site.

The reason you see religious groups recreating what BSA used to be is because those religious groups are anti-LGBTQ. The Mormon church was a huge supporter of BSA, and they became unglued when BSA allowed LGBTQ boys to join. Churches are common places for BSA Troops to meet because they have space.
