When you are writing, your brain betrays you. It actually edits the visuals it is sending you to "correct" them. You literally do not see the errors. Your brain is a betrayer. That's why an independent copyeditor is essential. They are seeing the work for the first time, uncorrected.

Confidential to Readers: if you want to complain about spelling/grammar errors in a book, complain to the publisher, not the writer. Copyediting is the publisher's responsibility. It is impossible to write 100% grammatically accurate books. Even Game of Thrones made it to print with mistakes.
