please stop replying to game devs saying things like "well look on the bright side those laid off devs can start their own indie studios now" because eventually one of us is going to snap and "WITH WHAT FUCKING MONEY" would be a shitty last thing to hear before you die

I never worked on the ME franchise, but I did play the shit out of the games (and felt a bit envious about some things that team seemed to do so effortlessly). My heart goes out to those who were on the current team, cooking up something wonderful only to have it yanked away. This looks SO good. 😭

Going to give my own takeaway on the demise of Bioware, which still makes me very sad. The TLDR: Bioware was not killed suddenly by a private equity acquisition. It was slowly strangled by idiots who didn't understand what made Bioware great - some at EA but also some inside of Bioware leadership

in every way that matters, i would not be here without mass effect and dragon age. what an incalculable loss of a studio with an incalculable effect on this industry. i can’t find the words for more. it feels a little silly to be so devastated, but my heart really is shattered right now.
