Same with housing. No safety net. And now even food. They’ve made an already desperate situation even more desperate. And I have not seen effective support networks step into make up for that. People are just out here totally screwed, knowing there is no help for them to turn to. It’s tragic.

They are, but it’s not as drastic as it is here. Just healthcare alone is enough to keep people terrified of losing their job. Have a child with healthcare needs? Or a spouse? Or even myself. Now my LIFE or my child’s life or my spouses life is also dependent on that job.

Honestly…from what I have observed from speaking to people in the U.S, it has less to do with fear of violence or oppression and more to do with a fear of losing what little security people have. They don’t want to risk their jobs, their housing, etc. People are stuck in survival mode.

and the biggest protests we’ve seen was in 2020 when tons of people were getting supplemental income. as soon as that benefit ended, the protests evaporated. but this also assumes people in france or elsewhere aren’t also in survival mode!
