Publication bias probably doesn't matter if we just ignore low quality research (which is really what we should do).

Wondering why that might occur and what to test the method on. The first scenario that comes to mind would be non-randomised studies of an exposure where the effect points the wrong direction and it's so unbelievable, it's assumed that there must be unmeasured confounding.
