gonna bury this one in the replies a little bit but while i think dx uptick for adhd is very much driven by awareness i think it's also driven by nicotine cessation-- we had a widespread-to-the-point-of-inescapability drug that ~worked pretty well for ADHD (shame about the other side effects)
Show Postthat's what we call low-hanging fruit. there are tremendous returns-- societal, familial, nationally, whatever unit you want to slice-- to helping unproductive, unhappy people become happy, productive people, and also morally it's the right thing to do. so, it would be good if we could fund this
Show Postit's not the only problem in the world but it seems very clear to me that better ADHD support leads to better real-world outcomes, and that the delta between outcomes for the well-supported and unsupported is frequently enormous
Show PostRight? I feel confident this could be extrapolated to "I asked myself, if I were dying, would I care about this? And I'm not TECHNICALLY extra dying, but we are ALL dying, and so the answer is - no. No, I would not care."
Show PostReally puts into stark perspective just how much of the stuff people are forced to do every day under the guises of work and productivity are just actually not at all important. I wish only healing things for you on your brain tumor journey.
