I’m so glad that you made that decision! I adopted my Sadie when she was 15 years old. She was an “owner surrender” because her owner was a 17-year old whose parents had been killed and she wasn’t able to keep Sadie in her new home. I had her for 2 amazing years!

It was sheer coincidence that I learned the actual backstory: I ran into my former counselor at the grocery and was telling her about my new girl. Turns out, the child who had to give Sadie up was known to her. I asked her to share that Sadie was doing well, and offered to make it an open adoption.

Yesterday I adopted the oldest, sickest, and sorest shelter dog. I'll never forget his eyes. When I went into the cage he didn't even bother to look, he knew I wouldn't even see him. ❤️
