Amazing if it is a local one. They’ve had an epic year so I read
Show PostReally enjoyed our views of the 1st American Wigeon in the Cley square for many years (Jan 2011 the last one here) ~ a fine (2cy?) drake on Kelling Water Meadows this afternoon. I do like a surprise! Nice pick-up by @norfolkbirdtour.bsky.social 👍 @linnetincley.bsky.social #NorfolkBirding #cleybirds
Show PostEarly spring is a productive time for presumably north or east bound New World wildfowl in Norfolk but they often don’t stay long so a quick trip to Kelling Water meadows to see this drake American Wigeon this evening was too tempting….
Show PostAfter the American Wigeon, we headed home via Salthouse Heath ~ showy Garden Warblers having a sing-off was a bit of a surprise & it was nice to see another Ring Ouzel, after the three nearby yesterday. A very good evening in TG04👌 @linnetincley.bsky.social #NorfolkBirding
Show PostAgeing the American Wigeon as 2cy is based on comparatively short, brown/buff edged tertials, mottled look to the exposed wing coverts & suggestion of pale fringing on the breast. Also, head pattern perhaps not as strong as ad.♂️ (ditto the overall tone). @linnetincley.bsky.social #NorfolkBirding
