I've posted many sunset photos from my terrace in Alcalá de los Gazules, but few sunrises, as a tree blocks the view. This photo was taken 100m up the road, looking across the Alcornocales. Liz & I were lucky to have found Alcala, but it's a constant regret she's no longer here to enjoy it with me.

Rufous Bushchat is an iconic Spanish species that I never tire of seeing. They have a wonderful display flight where they spread their russet tails and flash their white and black tail tips. There's nowhere better to find them than Trebujena's vineyards in Cadiz province. Pure magic!

Over in Girona, Spain for the week. The highlight from a cycle out of the city was probably sev singing western Bonelli’s warblers - not had singing birds before. Also a couple of flocks of waxbills - a new one in Europe for me. Plus cirl bunting, hoopoe, Cetti’s, nightingale, zitting cisticola…
