Orla O’Donnell completely destroyed Jim O’Callaghan’s smear about solicitors targeting rape cases in the Central Criminal Court yesterday on Morning Ireland. It’s outrageous that the Minister is engaging in cynical tactics such as this instead of sitting down to negotiate with solicitors.

I can’t stress enough how deliberately insulting this statement is & how irredeemably toxic it will be to his relationship with solicitors. Arguing over money is one thing. This is, politically pointlessly, another thing entirely. Poisoning the well of discussion to play the big man for a headline
