@nmoraislab.bsky.socialWe are doing this: 1) as training experience for the group members; 2) to test the limits and conceptual errors of AI models for research; 3) illustrate publicly how this can impact on bioinformatics research. We hope to collect these findings into some report that might be useful to others.
Show PostWe will start the week with problems having objectives that can be quantified / benchmarked (predict X problems) and we will then apply these on open ended bio research questions. We will think about verification, disclosures and rates of conceptual errors.
Show PostNext week we will do a hackathon on AI coding agents in bioinformatics, joined virtually by 3 groups @colmr.bsky.social @emanuelvgo.bsky.social @dessimoz.bsky.social on protein structure, evolution, genetics, and cancer. We will post results throughout the week in case anyone wants to follow along
Show Post🧬 From Data to Discovery! On 9 October, @biomics-twinning.bsky.social welcomed @ebi.embl.org experts to @gimminstitute.bsky.social for a full day of #UniProt training with 15 participants, a Biomedical Data Science Seminar and a new BIOMICS Friends interview! 🎥 #BIOMICS #UniProt #Bioinformatics
Show Post🧬🧬🧬 Very happy to share our new preprint led by Fede Mantica (@fedemantica.bsky.social) on how tissue-specific alternative splicing (TS-AS) and gene expression (TS-GE) evolve across bilaterians! Thread below 🧵 1/11 www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...
