One thing I *have* seen a study on is that people will behave more sexually and abusively to chatbots when the bots are presented as women. That seems bad! Like, the same way people swat bugs all the time, and it's whatever, but if someone regularly enjoyed like, slowly torturing insects or something, and did it all the time, I'd be like "hey man, what the fuck".

I don't think LLMs are conscious but I do think (and I don't know if there have been studies on this or if this has been verified, it is just something I think is likely) people who regularly use LLMs and also frequently behave extremely abusively to LLMs are more likely to be dicks to humans too
