I have a big problem with this piece. Those people aren't being cut off from getting a chance at parole because an algorithm said so .. they are being cut off because a politician said so. It was a politician who made the decision to use the algorithm.

For profit prisons don't have rehabilitation programs. They're violent, underinvested adult cages that do the bare minimum to maximize profits and keep prisoners alive for the most part.
