Just as the Habs rebuild is a fit subject for sports management courses in the future, the undoing of the Maple Leafs is a study in how NOT to do it. They threw huge wads of money at their top offensive stars, neglected defence and goaltending, ran coaches in and out - and now it's all collapsing.

The portion of TSN's Sportscenter I saw this morning ended with a 10-minute video elegy to the Leafs. The Winnipeg Jets also bowed out and they actually won something this season (the cursed President's Trophy) but I don't recall them getting even a two-minute clip.
