I love robocop, no criticism, but I think Verhoeven is an easier sell for today’s hipsters cuz his work is smart euro making American genre stuff wry, nasty. “This is actually smart, he meant to do that” flatters the audience, where Russell, de Palma etc make people wonder if this is FOLLY.
