@jstarklab.bsky.socialWe explored the role of the telomeric RNA TERRA in cancer cells that transition from telomerase to ALT to maintain telomeres. We show that TERRA levels remain unchanged, but TERRA molecules relocate to telomeres and engage in R-loops. See thread ↓ link.springer.com/article/10.1...

Show PostA big week for the lab! Two new papers on how cells repair DNA double-strand breaks: one on getting NHEJ started in chromatin, one on processing the ends before ligation. Years of work by a fantastic team.
Show PostHow doe BRCA1 suppress Group 1 genomic tandem duplications? @ralphscully.bsky.social show that Brca1 coiled-coil mutant mouse models remain competent for suppression of tandem duplications despite being defective for homologous recombination link.springer.com/article/10.1...
Show PostWhat molecular mechanisms underlie the needle-in-a-haystack search for homology required to fix a DNA break? In this preprint, we reveal multiple controls of homology search in cells: onset, coordination, reach and inactivation. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...
