One ensemble member for London is 39.8c: in a month where - per @aidanmcgivern.bsky.social below - the record is 35.6c. Yes it likely won't happen, but ensembles show "the possible". The "we've seen it all before in 1976" cries are looking less and less valid with every passing year.

Inter-model spread quite large as well as ECMWF's "intra-model" ensembles...all seems to diverge around Thursday.
