Crap. Just saw Svitolina's latest post. If I read it correctly, Monfils did suddenly retire because of this. I feel sad for her. I feel sad for him. I wish things could have worked so he had his last moments as a pro player in France.

Awww what a sweet end to a touch battle. This was a real tug of war of a match. Even at the last moment I thought Sonay might turn it around but Maja Chwalinska is a WTA 1000 championship to add to her Grand Slam Finalist. 👏🏾

I didn’t get to see the end of the matches but 🎉🎉🎉🎉🥳🥳🥳🥳 Foki and Maja! From a set down! First 1000!

Chwal of Fame Maja Chwalinska had won four tour-level matches in her whole career before Roland-Garros. Then she reached the final as a qualifier... scored her first top 10 win... and now this. The lefty overcomes Sonay Kartal, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, to win the title in Wuhan.
