Spinning yarn is my writing hack! I've got a little espinner next to my computer and when I really need to get writing done, I reach for a handful of wool every time I feel the urge to screw around online instead. I spin it, and when it's done, I go back to writing.

And I hear you on the side quest issue, which is what weaving has become for me—all-consuming, can only do it when I have enough time to really focus (especially when warping a loom), and of course now it is also the subject of my next book. I did also try spinning my own yarn… 🧶

Thanks for those details. Shaft envy... I have 8 and have not yet tried the doubleweave selvedge. I've been weaving for 10 ten years and I love the fact that there is always something else to learn!
