It will be very interesting to see what effect this has on the number of submissions made to this journal. I suspect it might be quite substantially downwards, and that's very likely a good thing.

Last semester I moved a class with written papers to oral exams, it was weird for everybody the first time at midterms because no one was used to it but by the second time it finals it flowed really well and you can tell the students really had prepared and knew what they were going to talk about

Advice is have strict time limits that cut people off mid sentence per question, and they have to answer follow-ups otherwise they're just reciting a speech

Challenging indeed to make examination AI-proof. But why not a written (pen-and-paper) exam instead of an oral exam?
