Oh, I agree- admitting to it would have had major consequences to his brand, cost him money and opportunities. So when he spent a decade "trying to reckon" with what he'd done, he was careful to limit that reckoning to things which wouldn't have any personal or professional cost to him.

I don't know, he did admit the truth, but only after the information was made public; it wasn't his decision to admit to what he'd done, and that makes his apology feel far less sincere to me.
