it's my understanding they're not mad about the quality of the writing as much as they're mad at Wizards seemingly forcing the author to sand off his edges and make him a less interesting character

bedeviled and languid

My partner is making me aware of t kingfisher and this astarion book against my will and I can feel the varnish covering all the wrinkles in my brain. This reads like boring fanfic written by a concussed fourth grader.

It's a really confusing choice because every single detail seems to be something that the fans would hate.... I don't know who the target audience is

I genuinely don't understand why would they do it. The cover is stunning, sure, and usually I'd go for buying a book because of the cover, but it doesn't match whatever the author has written at all. I haven't read it, but the things I hear are egregious... Nothing to do with canon all. I hate WoTC.

this is just straight up false advertising..... apparently they didn't tell the first cover artist anything about the contents so I imagine this cover artist was just given a general brief and used their own imagination (💔 how I wish they were right)
