I've been studying chytrid for the last year and this is the science I absolutely love. Easy, cheap and DIY, with actual results. You can help frogs in just an afternoon, and they'll return the favor by eating mosquitos and singing you a song on spring nights
Show PostWhat's even more impressive is that after visiting the sauna and curing their chytrid, frogs appear to have resistance to the disease, even in colder conditions. They hop out of the sauna and can survive future infections! pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38926575/
Show PostAnd building the sauna is incredibly easy. All you need is masonry bricks, black paint, greenhouse tarp and zip ties. The inventor published instructions and the whole process takes about an hour sites.google.com/view/anthony...
Show PostSo treating Chytrid in the wild is surprisingly easy. If you build a sauna, the frogs will seek it out. They sit inside until it gets too hot for them, and then they leave. No other treatments are required
Show PostFortunately, we can do something about it. Chytrid can't survive past 30°C (86°F) but frogs can, and because they're cold-blooded, they'll seek out heat to warm up and leave the heat to cool off
