I can’t believe a woman gubernatorial candidate who was raped as a child by her stepfather and whose mother lost custody of her minor children as a result has to respond to an attack ad calling her a liar. It is, as far as the literature I know an actual unprecedented low in modern politics.

thinking tonight about “history is written by the victors” and how well it summarises the ways abusers move through the world. effortlessly stealing the very essence of their victims with just a few pretty words. doesn’t even require effort, everyone loves a victor, victims are weak and evil.
