This is why I was so angry about Platner & even moreso about Jackson replacing him. Jackson is Gideon 2.0; another nobody from Teh Establishment who'll never beat Collins. Platner could've beaten Collins like a rug; he made all the right moves. Unfortunately, he's a Nazi rapist, too, so, oh well.

You somewhat unintentionally make my point: Collins is a vicious bastard of a right-wing politician, but she consistently portrayed as a "low energy moderate." It will take a very, very good candidate to beat her (or the Grim Reaper) and the Maine political establishment ensures none exist.
