OSC tithes to the church. So, yes, giving him money absolutely funnels it into active harm. Same with Brandon Sanderson.

That's the difference between Rowling and, say, Orson Scott Card to me. They both prove themselves to be awful, awful people every time they speak publicly. Only one is observably funneling their wealth and fame into doing active harm.

there are a lot of authors who turned out to be assholes and opinions vary on enjoying their work separate from their views there are very few authors where you know for a fact that buying their books or merchandise will send money directly to destroying the lives of people you care about
