I am not a fan of AI either, but at its core, it is still a tool. And every tool is only as good as the person using it. Even the Bible is used by evil people to do evil. The things AI can, and is, doing in the medical field is pretty great and lifesaving for some.

So as you pointed out it is still an alpha build, and it took human working on the code just to get it that far. So AI was still a tool used in its creation. And humans will still be needed to bring it past the alpha/beta stages. When used as a tool, that is still overseen by humans, AI does good.
