Someone specifically expressed appreciation for the fic ending on Caine having a self-destruction relapse but with the change of reaching out immediately when he did. And I'm glad! I thought that was important.

There really is a type of ending that I gravitate towards in my writing where it's like..."the crisis is over, and all of the protagonists have a good, peaceful day to catch their breaths and think over what's happened. Problems remain, and the work continues, but one good day counts for a lot."

Maybe it's because Elon Musk talks out of his ass 24/7, promising all kinds of stuff that doesn't pan out: Cybertrucks can float and are bulletproof, we'll have Mars missions by 2024, he'll end world hunger, etc. I just can't trust any of this until I see an independent test driver pull it off.
