Something about his deep bass and the truths he sang about was just too much. Had to grow up a lot before I understood that his music was burrowing inside of me in a way that was really uncomfortable. But it wasn't hate I was feeling.

they got so high on the world wars that they thought everything else was to be ignored, and despite al the evidence to the contrary, they could not understand that wars fought with limited resources & to limited ends make up the majority of conflicts.

Not a genre, but in college, I HATED Johnny Cash. Couldn't listen to it. Drove me up the wall. Later in life, I realized that reaction wasn't hate, it was over-the-top emotion that I couldn't handle. I've adored Johnny Cash for 20-some years now.
