The replies here are just disconnected from the reality of modern web development in the last year. It would've been irresponsible not to use whatever tool they could to ensure uptime and fix critical vulnerabilities as fast as possible while attacks were being conducted.

at this point if you aren't using the slop bot to secure your servers your servers are a vulnerable botnet and a danger to the internet something like 75% of the internet was affected by this. anything that gets the sites running again is a good thing
