The last time I went to E3, I was visiting the XSEED booth to say hi to @wyrdwad.bsky.social at the Akika’s Trip demo and I wandered over to the Rune Factory 4 demo. And I’m not sure who this was, but a Japanese guy in a suit saw me playing and said proudly “In this one you can play as a girl!”
Show PostAlso when I commented like this on Reddit I found out there were sure a lot of millennial sapphics that played the old games like me and being able to date girls seemed to make a lot of things click for us in the 90s. Nami not being higher in that poll is a CRIME.
Show PostI don’t think I have ever seen a franchise’s core demographic swing as hard as Story of Seasons. When I was growing up, it was assumed you were a boy, mostly boys played and talked about their favorite “waifus.” Now look at this - all boys in the top 10 character poll.

Yeah, Super Metroid is still my favorite in the genre. The amount of faith that it places in the player's curiosity feels so special, even today.
