There was a pet shop by the bus stop so she went in there to a) get rat supplies and b) ask if it was their rat? Maybe a mama was missing one of the litter? And they looked very awkward and told her they sold tubs of live baby rats to snake owners for, err, snake dinner, and it must've fallen out.

Also make sure they actually chipped your dog. Our previous family pet escaped from the doggy daycare and went missing for 6 weeks. That's when we discovered the chip was never installed. Had to re-adopt her when the shelter got her since there was no chip

Awwww… Precious! Before I went out of town for the summer, Berlioz was so scared of me. Now, he loves when I pet him. He was a little skittish at first, but after less than 24 hours, look at this sweetie pie. Is it any wonder I couldn’t eat or sleep when he was missing?? ❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾

I think it helps me to think about the love the pet had for you. When my Pepper went missing and I knew it didn't look good, I told my Mom, "no matter what happens, he loves you so much," and it was true. He was the sweetest most loving little boy, so I focused on the love we had together.
