i attended the israelis for peace vigil tonight. probably the only jewish led ceremony in the city to say with its full chest, end the genocide, end the occupation, and free palestine. they read testimonies from antiwar jewish families of those killed on 10/7, and from palestinians in gaza.

because zohran was in attendance (he didn’t speak), there was a large counter demonstration that did not stop chanting the entire time. asking him how many kids he killed today. calling him a traitor. saying he shouldn’t call himself a muslim. as is their right, after years of genocide.

but still. they drowned out all of the speakers, including the interfaith prayers at the end. when we raised our candles, they booed. i barely made out the end of kaddish so thankfully i could respond amen.
