The energy imbalance in 2026 is 3x higher now than in 2001. Why will the rate of warming not be 3x higher once the deep ocean heat added in 2026 reaches the surface in 2035? Why are they so overly optimistic? If we don’t plan for the actual warming we will fool ourselves into self destruction.

The paper does not estimate the future acceleration. Surface warming is going to accelerate to 3x the warming of 2013 by 2035. 2.0C will be reached by 2035 or earlier. 2.5C will be reached by 2045 by likely earlier The 2026 energy imbalance is the driver. Not interesting historical trends.
