My whole life I’ve had people laugh at or berate me for stimming, usually neurotypical folks. It’s horrible having to pretend being “less autistic” in public. So I get it. The “stimming” video is stereotypical, and autism isn’t something “quirky”. But I do like stimming. Not apologizing for that.

Speaking as an autistic person, there are situations where it’s not appropriate for me to be loud or fun all the time. But in the times where it is? Especially when I’m at home or with friends? I can be as wild and unfiltered as I like! I see Caine after Episode 9 as much the same.

The ad where Caine gets loud then dials it back is him awkwardly figuring things out; he's still new to empathy and overcorrecting a bit. In the ending montage of Episode 9, he eventually finds a good balance between being himself and not bending over backwards and masking himself to be empathetic.
