And millions starve every decade in capitalist countries. Starvation is not a measure of success/failure in and of itself. China was beset with being a preindustrial country and was wartorn from Japanese genocide. Mao increased life expectancy, literacy, living conditions, etc.

If you want to learn about how the canards of Mao are false, you can just read "Was Mao Really a Monster" published by Routledge and authored by leading non-communist academics on China. I doubt you will though. Canards and propaganda are always easier than just spewing bullshit on Bluesky.

Hope it proves insightful. To be clear, I don't think Mao was some saint. None are. But the attempts to portray him as some special horror or evil I find are just nonsensical, personally.
