The might of the snoot! Very narrow beam of light coming out of the strobe. You're correct that it's the size of the claw, they are somewhat like fiddler crabs in this regard.

Had a wonderful dive with them in Bonaire... they peak a few days after the full moon, so if you pick the right night and get away from artificial lights you can go in at dusk, have a lovely night dive, and then a spectacular show at the end. It's an amazing experience.
