I agree with all of this and also want to say that even if you do not support M4A and do not think we can get rid of insurance companies we absolutely must end the coupling of insurance to employment, both because of the impact on workers and the perverse incentives it creates in the system.

I feel like the rise of ecumenicism was kind of the cause of the changes to church-going Christian identity that led to this. i.e. I think denominational identity went away before evangelicals were solely led by the Christian subculture
